Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react

During a conversation I fully went nerd mode on star wars. In lunch outside, it was me and a couple of my friends and one of them asked about trinket I had with me which had star wars labeled on it and asked me if I liked it and said yes and then I started blabbing about how much of a nerd I was and how I watched all 9 films and all the shows. An ordinary person would just say yes and move on but I just blabbed on and on and I think my friends were just surprised on how someone would just pour out in public that they are a nerd.  Who are you- A human being who wants to live life at the fullest as possible and enjoy it. Summary- Read The poem "I'm Nobody! Who are you?" Reflect- Went over about how nobody's are different and unique while the Someones's are the same as they are trying to keep up with society.

Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

One day someone who I talked to oftenly assumed that I was gay. I asked them why did they think I was Gay and they said it was due to my appearance. My thoughts were not of anger just confused, my first thought was maybe my hair as I had it in a way that may seem it I was. I shrugged it off due to seeing it not that big of an issue as when people call me stuff I just simply ignore it. Summary- Went over different stereotypes of different groups  Reflect- We learned how others commonly view other races by public opinion and as we dwelled on it more we realized some are not true and others absurd to hear.

Describe something you will never fully understand.

This topic I'll never understand is parents abusing their children. When thinking about this I wonder what is the purpose of hurting your child, is it to learn their lesson from what they did if so why straight to hitting instead of hearing them out they can tell you the reason they did it and from that disscussion see to take something from them so they can learn their lesson or just tell them a warning to not ever do it again. Summary- We presented our culture poems Reflect- We learned different ways our classmates view their own cultures through poems and how they express themselves with it.

Describe a time when you felt completely lost.

At one point so far in my life I did feel lost it was during middle school during the pandemic mainly the beginining. I felt lost as in the future as I didn't know if this virus was going to ruin society as I didn't know how fatal it was. I was worried that I wouldn't survive and wondering if my anyone in my family will die because of it. Most of the time I was lost wondering about these possibilities during the pandemic. Summary- We presented our cultural masks to everyone in the class Reflect- We learned about everyones unique cultures and personal beliefs and what everyone believed in.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples

So far throughout this first week I have kept up with the blogs, doing my best with giving my opinion when being asked to when discussing a topic. A strength I could encounter later through this course is a getting a faster understanding of the topics we'll be talking about in the future. A challenge I could expect is a hard understanding of questions of the topic as it could unmotivate me to do my work. Summary- worked on our mask and started our reflection on it Reflect- Almost nothing to reflect we continued where we left of from Wednesday.

Describe how gender roles or patriarchy influence your identity?

Gender roles can influence our identity as they can express your personality through it as for women are expected to dress up in pretty clothes and makeup and men to be strong and hard working. These stereotypes can hurt the relation between a man and a women as one another can depict each other in a way that they think that person acts like this but in truth its not. Summary- We started working on our cultural masks and learned about the vocabulary we have to study. Reflect- I learned through the short film how different people have identity's they try to match with others also some believe themselves as pretty through this identity they have in public as a way to hide their true selfs from anybody in public due to being different.

Describe a meaningful family tradition unique to your culture and explain how it mirrors or contrasts with the cultural identity themes of expectations and roles in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.

A family tradition related to my culture is to celebrate the 15th birthday of our female family members. It marks a celebration of the female from childhood to womanhood which shows to everyone that she is ready act like a young lady. A way this celebration can relate to the story is that both young women becoming an adult. Summary: Finished the 4 questions from Monday and went to the gym in order to take pictures.

Reflect on how your cultural heritage shapes your daily expectations, inspired by "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.

Response- My herritage can shape my daily routine by food. As in my heritage some of our food is handmade for example tortillas and tamales. These foods are made birthdays and fall and winter Holliday's like Christmas and new years.  Summary- We read Girl by Jamaica Kincaid and anaylzed and answered questions about it. Reflection- From the text I've been thought of how young women are usually placed with strict rules by their parents mostly by their mother or mother figure in order to teach young women how to behave in society in order to have a good a reputation for them and the one who taught them also their family and their gender.
